Daytona Beach Police, Fire departments start toy drives

DAYTONA BEACH -- The Daytona Beach Police and Fire departments are hosting toy drives to help local children receive gifts for the holidays.

The Police Department hopes to get a minimum of 5,000 new toy donations through its 100 Wishes program, according to a statement released by the agency. The department asks for new, unwrapped toys.

Donations can be dropped off at the Daytona Beach Police Department or picked up by Kayla Lightfoot by calling 386-461-9084. Other accommodations can be made for donations by calling Sophie Vessa, 352-671-5232. Donations can be made until Dec. 15.

The Daytona Beach Fire Department is also hosting a toy drive in partnership with the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center and Advance America Cash Advance that ends Dec. 16.

Each of the seven fire stations in Daytona Beach will have drop boxes for toy donations.
